Natasha Leggero called in to talk about her new show, Rat In the Kitchen. Of course we discussed the essential nuances of the UB40 tune. Plus: I let Natasha know my feelings were not hurt by a bit she did with Anthony Jeselnik trashing morning radio hosts (I actually really enjoyed the bit because 99 percent was true! I am clearly the exception).
Amanda Rettke dialed us up for a chat about her new book HOMESTEAD RECIPES: Midwestern Inspirations, Family Favorites, and Pearls of Wisdom from a Sassy Home Cook. We discovered we had so much in common, including the great tradition of "supper," the semantics of "hot dish" vs. "casserole" and our unexpected common Minnesota roots. Amanda might also be the first guest to do some research on me! (results were positive)
Randy Rainbow joined the show to discuss his very funny new memoir Playing With Myself, which I very much enjoyed saying on the radio over and over with no chance of getting in trouble or having it misinterpreted or completely taken out of context. Randy and I also discovered our mutual love of '50s and '60s "Original Cast" albums of Broadway musicals.
